**New phone added in this release

New devices:
  • Added/fixed support for LG Dare VX-9700, Motorola VE20, Cricket UM185 modem, LG Versa VX-9600, Verizon UMW190 modem, Verizon USB760.
New features:
  • New CW scanning feature for ZK-MPS, including floorplan mode support.
  • Log message format version 6.25. The primary update to this version is support for logging CW scan results.
Software Fixes / Refinements:
  • GSM scanning:
    • Fixed a problem where with some MPS GSM BSIC scanning channel list configurations, the BSIC reporting was intermittent.
    • Fixed a problem where the software could hang on the GSM scanner setup menus.
    • Fixed a problem in the configuration menus that made it impossible to configure some valid GSM scan list channel ranges.
  • Floorplan:
    • Fixed problem where floorplan did not function properly if "non-contiguous devices" were enabled, e.g. device #1 and #3 (but not #2).
    • Fixed crash if import of corrupt floorplan JPEG image attempted.
    • Fixed crash on import of BMP image with pixel width or height which were not a factor of 4.
    • Fixed a problem where sometimes points would not plot correctly in floorplan until "prefs" menu was used the first time.
    • Improved the coloring thresholds used in floorplan for CDMA Ec/Io for scanners and phones.
    • Floorplan image import now displays more helpful messages if a user attempts to import an image file that is not supported (e.g. too large or unsupported characters in filename).
    • floorplan image import option now displays a more helpful warning message if there are no image files found to import.
    • fixed a problem where the exported floorplan image would sometimes be incomplete (e.g. legend missing).
    • fixed a problem where the number of floorplan image import/exports was limited to 16 per power cycle.
  • Log Upload:
    • Fixed problems where sometimes a change to the Upload Options menu would require an unnecessary reboot, and sometimes a change on the Upload Options menu did not require a reboot when it was necessary to reboot.
    • Fixed a problem where when the "shutdown mode" log upload option is enabled, the unit will freeze for 30 seconds after the "format CF Card" or "scanner firmware upgrade" options are finished.
    • Fixed a problem when log upload "shutdown mode" was enabled, the "Upload Options" menu FTP settings would not take effect until the next reboot.
    • Fixed crash if the "log upload" option was enabled with a very long FTP directory path.

    • Fixed a problem where the user would be sometimes be warned about inconsistent PN scan follow mode settings, when in fact the PN scan follow mode was off.
    • Fixed a problem where the PE (EVDO Phone) log message's band field was logged incorrectly for the AWS band.
    • Fixed a problem in the PN scanning configuration menus which did not display the channel #6 and channel #7 options correctly.
    • Improved the reliability of 1X idle channel/band reporting for EVDO devices.
    • Fixed a problem were SAM-ALL startup time was significantly slower each time SAM-ALL was restarted between power cycles.

**New phone added in this release

New features:
  • Floorplan now supports JPEG and all common BMP file formats. Previously only "8-bit" BMP files were supported.
  • Floorplan now supports the ability to switch between multiple floorplan image files. The floorplan image file name is recorded in the log file and exported image file names.
  • An option was added to disable/enable floorplan mode. This allows SAM-ALL to start somewhat faster if the floorplan feature is not required. NOTE: the default is Disable so floorplan users running 9.9 for the first time will need to enable floorplan mode on the Floor Plan Setup menu.
  • Automatic & Shutdown Logfile Upload modes: The Automatic mode provides the ability for automatic "real-time" upload of log files to a remote FTP server via a wireless modem. The "Shutdown" upload mode will upload the data when the unit is powered off. When log file upload is enabled, the size of log files can be adjusted from 2 to 30 minutes per file -- reducing the log file size will result in more log files but when using the automatic upload mode there will be less latency on average between when the data is collected and when it arrives at the server.
  • Added a menu option to turn off Over-the-Air (layer 3) messages logging in the Global Setup menu.
  • Compressed Log Files: Log files are now stored in the compressed gzip (*.gz) format. By compressing the log files much more data can be stored on the compact flash card. Also, if the log upload feature is used the files will upload faster and require less storage on the server. The gzip (*.gz) format is very widely supported -- for example Winzip and (free) 7-zip ( http://7-zip.org/ ) can be used to uncompress these files.
  • The maximum number of log files was increased from 50 to 1000.
  • Log file format version 6.24: Marker (MK) log now includes a field for the floor plan image file name.
Software Fixes:
  • Changed log upload feature to use passive mode FTP. This resolves firewall issues seen by some customers.
  • Fixed a software crash which could occur when using a floorplan image file with an extremely long file name.
  • Fixed issue where RSSI was not being updated during traffic mode for some Motorola CDMA phones, e.g. Motorola K1m.
  • Fixed issue where sometimes when using Qualcomm-chipset GPRS/EDGE devices "idle mode" was reported when the device was actually in "traffic" mode. This was most noticable on screen as the zoom line would intermittently indicate idle (white background) instead of traffic (yellow background) during GRPS/EDGE testing.
  • Fixed issue where the "synchronization mode" reported in the log file PN messages for UMTS scans was incorrectly reported as "GPS Synchronization".
  • Fixed issue where sometimes the average throughput in DTS message at the beginning of a transfer would incorrectly report the "stale" average throughput from the end of the previous transfer for a few seconds.
  • Fixed issue when there is a handoff from EVDO to 1X in the middle of the transfer, stale EVDO-specific parameter data would continue to be reported.
  • Fixed issue where the hyperband was incorrectly reported as PCS1900 for some DCS1800 GSM neighbor channel numbers. In this case the cellname reporting would also be incorrect.

**New phone added in this release

New features:
  • Changes the data testing FTP upload size to list of discreet sizes, making it much faster to select from a wide range of upload sizes.
  • Extended the data testing FTP upload, FTP download and HTTP download path names to 38 characters each.
  • No longer generate an audible alert for momentary (less than 5 second) loss of GPS fix. (SS ticket #151)
Software Fixes:
  • Fixed problem where the CDMA/EVDO PN delay was often reported incorrectly by MPS CDMA/EVDO PN scans if the PN Increment setting was greater than 1.
  • Fixed problem where the CDMA 1X transmit power was not being reported for devices operating in the AWS band.
  • Fixed problem where with some newer CDMA devices during CDMA 1X "Sync" mode, the active set was reported as empty and the PC message CDMA "Phone State" field was sometimes very briefly logged as '?' when it should have been "S" (Sync mode).
  • Fixed problem where sometimes the CDMA/EVDO RLP throughput would be incorrectly reported as zero briefly at the beginning of a transfer.
  • Fixed problem introduced in 9.6G where the data testing FTP upload path was ignored. Now if the FTP upload path option is set, the FTP upload test correctly uploads to the specified directory on the server.

**New phone added in this release

New Features:
  • AWS band support. Includes MPS AWS scanner, cellsite name, screens, logging, etc.
  • MPS scanner firmware field update capability (scanner firmware 062.026).
  • Adds default Cricket data testing link setup.
  • Prohibit voice-auto-dial or data-auto-dial of 911.
  • Simplified configuration by removing option to disable OTA messages. Over-the-Air Message logging always enabled.
  • More user friendly voice auto-dial configuration menu -- now hides options which are not applicable for the current auto-dial mode.
  • Adds support for Alltel version of the UM175. (Note: 9.7B & 9.7C already supported non-Alltel versions of the UM175).
Software Fixes:
  • Fixed a problem where under some conditions the MPS CDMA "Synchronization Mode" could be left in the wrong state when only EVDO channels were selected. This would result in a persistent "no sync" condition. Now the user is alerted and the sync mode is forced to "GPS Sync" as required for EVDO only scanning.
  • Fixed issue where sometimes the first several seconds of MPS CDMA & UMTS scan results were inaccurate.
  • Addressed issue with slow response to user key presses during some data testing scenarios.
  • Fixed problem where DTS field #40 (GPRS vs EDGE) was sometimes blank when it should not be.
  • Fixed a rare problem where sometimes incorrect cellsite names were reported.
  • Fixed an issue where sometimes "stale" GSM RSSI-full was reported for a few seconds during idle mode.
  • CDMA auto-dial markov mode feature now works correctly again.
  • Fixed issue with unreliable logging of idle CDMA 1X hyperband when using an EVDO device.
  • Fixed extremely rare software crash with device in EVDO mode.
  • Fixed to minor problem where sometimes the "EVDO bit counters" where blank instead of 0 in the DTS message.
  • Screens now display "no response" message when retriever is not responding.
  • Removed unreliable "auto answer" feature.
  • Fixed a crash which would sometimes occur shortly after MPS GSM scanning was enabled.
  • Fixed several problems with MPS CDMA follow-phone mode.
Log format 6.23 changes (relative to 6.22):
Details and new document are forthcoming.
  • Mobile Identification Number (MIN) now reported in PE & PC messages.
  • Time offset from UTC logged in all messages and @START line.
  • MPS Scanner version reported in RX message.
  • AWS hyperband support.
  • AL (alert), OA (origination attempt) messages now report a blank "call length" value if the auto-dial mode is "continuos".

**New phone added in this release

New Features:
  • Floorplan mode now supports plotting of Retriever PN scanner data.
  • Floorplan mode now plots newer points on top of older points -- in earlier releases newer points were plotted "under" older points.
  • Support for log format version 6.22 -- a minor change to the reporting of DCS1800 band for GSM (see below for details).
  • Cosmetic improvements to the CDMA Messages screen, including scroll bars.
Software Fixes:
  • Fixed problem where floorplan image export would fail for some parameters.
  • Fixed issue where sometimes a ZK-SAMp running from battery would power-off unexpectedly and/or unreliably report the current battery charge level.
  • Fixed intermittent EVDO Serving SINR and Serving Ec/Io reporting.
  • Fixed problem where "zoom line" was empty if GSM/UMTS device was in no service mode at start of SAM-ALL session.
  • Fixed problem were bogus Ec and RSSI values were displayed if QCP2760 Retriever was used.
  • Fixed cosmetic problem on Phone Summary screen where "blue lines" would display after no-service or device-off modes.
  • Fixed problem where sometimes bogus MCC, MNC, LAC and/or RAC values were reported.
  • Fixed problem where cellname reporting was sometimes unreliable if UMTS scanning was active.
  • Fixed problem where cellname reporting was wrong for CDMA channel PCS-1175.
  • Fixed problem where sometimes UMTS Scanning RSCP and RSSI were not reported.
  • Adjusted thresholds used to filter out spurious "noise floor" CDMA/UMTS scan results. The result is less spurious PNs displayed on screen and less questionable RSCP values calculated for Ec/Ios near the noise floor.
  • Fixed problem where some alert conditions were displayed incorrectly as "unknown condition" in replay mode.
  • Fixed a rare crash that would occur at SAM-ALL startup if UMTS or CDMA scanning was enabled.
Log format 6.22 changes (relative to 6.21):
Details and new document are forthcoming.
  • In summary now 'd' will be reported for DCS1800 instead of 'p' in PG, NG, and HG messages.
Notes:
  • Does not support AWS band.

    • Fixed problem where the software would sometimes crash when there was a UMTS to GSM IRAT handoff.
    • Fixed problem where sometimes UMTS or GSM OTA (over-the-air layer 3) messages were not reported on a device transition between UMTS and GSM.
    • Fixed problem when after a screen switch the GSM/UMTS OTA messages screen would temporarily not allow scrolling.
    • Numerous improvements/fixes to the origination-attempt, block-call, drop-call and 3G-reselect detection logic for GSM and UMTS.
    • Fixed problem where in some situations UMTS RRC-state was not reported.
    • Fixed problem where with Qualcomm chipset GSM devices the RSSI-full field of the PG message was blank when idle.

    • Fixed problem where incomplete GSM Neighbor (NG) messages were logged in compressed mode.
    • No longer report/log redundant UMTS layer 3 "NAS" messages.
  • CDMA EVDO:
    • Fixed problem where CDMA 1X idle RSSI was always reported as -105dBm for many EVDO devices.
